Florence

So off to Florence, I went to Florence twice once with my tour group and once by myself. After my tour ended I had a week to go back to anywhere I wanted. I loved Florence, but felt I didn't have enough time there so I went back. I am soo glad I did. This is a group of photos from Florence. Ohh above is our bus we rode in for 12 days with stops in hotel.

A view from our hotel room. It was a nice room. I like this one.

This is the fake David in the original place and the real David is in a museum the fake place. I was find with seeing him so I didn't bother seeing the real one. I did go to the Uffizi(sp?) museum which was great and all consuming..I saw some Bernini there. yeah.

Me in front of the Duomo.

The Baptistry the Duomo and the bell tower.

Ponto Vecchio from the museum window. No picture allowed in the museum, I figured it was looking out.

Michelangelo piazza is above the city you can see all.

See what I mean.

Bell tower sign just wanted to state that is says "No Lift/ 414 steps"...

I did them all.

A view down at the Baptistry with a little of the Duomo.

The dome at the end of the Nave.

Me up there.

Now as I said early I was here two time. The second time was Easter. They had an Easter celebration on Sunday(which was alos the day I was leaving to Venice) I found out this randomly and had to be here. It was so cool. If any one has seen Under the Tuscan Sun they had flag throwers...

Look at

them

It was so cool.

The other thing was that they have a Carriage that shoots fireworks between the Baptistry and the Duomo, which if you have see in the other picture is close- also another one shown below.

This is the 12 minute video of Fireworks going off. Ohh and a fake dove shoots out the Duomo to light the fireworks, I caught it mid way before the whole video starts.

I also went grocery shopping the day before and bought myself a chocolate Easter bunny. Ohh the flowers and olive leaves are blessed and I received them at the Duomo during the flag throwing and such. Then I made it all the way back (5 min), out of the small apartment I rented and to the train station (5 min) to board my train to Venice. BUT because I am doing this country out of order a little with me visiting places multiple time (i.e. Rome, Florence, and Venice). We are going on to Pisa.

How fascinating--I have never seen fireworks done in the daytime or so close to a crowd. I loved hearing the church bells in the background. The flag toss must have been wonderful in person. Love, Mom
